Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update Fixes Leopard Sync Bug
The Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update fixes a long-standing bug which affected earlier versions of OS X 10.5 "Leopard". All Leopard users are strongly encouraged to download and install the update. Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" is not affected by the bug.
To ensure that your system is free of bad data after you apply the update, please open iSync (in Applications) and select "Reset Sync History" from iSync Preferences.

You probably saw by now that Apple included functionality into Address Book to sync with Gmail Contacts. While I think that is cool (if it turns out to work well) it must feel like a bit of a kick in the teeth to you guys.

janhk-
We think it's cool too. Of course it only works on Leopard, and apparently only for iPhone/iPod Touch customers, which I think is curious. But it raises the bar, which I think is a good thing.

According to the release notes, after 10.5.3 iCal allows events to be marked as private. Will Spanning Sync support syncing this additional info to Google?

phurth-
Spanning Sync already supports the "classification" property of evens in Sync Services, iCal has just never exposed a way to edit that property. I saw the same thing in the release notes, but I don't see where I'm supposed to set it in the iCal IU.

Charlie,
This is good news and your advice to wait on upgrading to Leopard (at my request) was also spot on.
After you test 10.5.3 and are convinced it plays nice with SS, what would be helpful to those of us who have held off on upgrading to Leopard is to post a step by step on what we should do to get a clean upgrade that works with SS.
As I have said, there is nothing in Leopard that is more important to me than keeping SS running, so I really want to make sure that I do it right.
Thanks again for the great support.

I've just updated to 10.3 and this resolved the "stuck iCal" for me ... so far. :D

Kieffer-
Great--thanks for the data point. Any other 10.5.3 upgraders? It's working great for us. But then again, bugs always seem most rare on the developers' machines. :-)
Thanks,
Charlie

I upgraded last night after repairing permissions. Just to be safe, I deleted my ~/library/calendars/caches after the upgrade. I had no problems using SS as of 5:30PM EST.
Right now though (@7:45 PM EST) I'm getting a message that Google calendars re not available, although I can access them from my browser.

I upgraded to 10.5.3 this morning an updated SS with the Build 333.
I can't sign in anymore with SS to my Gmail Account :-(
Is that the kind of feedback you asked for ? :-)

I upgraded to 10.5.3 as soon as it came out, and it immediately resolved the "stuck iCal" issue for me. I was starting to regret purchasing SS, but now its syncing perfectly and I'm really happy with it :)
This morning, though, I'm getting that nasty red dot with the "Google reported an unknown error." message. For the time being I'm going to assume this is a temporary issue with Google or something of that nature.

Greg-
I'm glad 10.5.3 is working well for you!
We've gotten quite a few reports of sporadic Google Calendar API outages over the last 24 hours or so. These things usually fix themselves within a few hours, but if you'd like us to investigate further please create a report ("Advanced", "Create report...") and email it to support@spanningsync.com.
Thanks,
Charlie

I for one disabled the iTunes Sync contact with Gmail as it messed up pretty badly.
