We're currently suffering from a server failure and Spanning Sync is offline. We're working hard to restore the server to working order and apologize for the inconvenience.
We'll update this blog as new status becomes available.
Thanks for bearing with us.
Larry

what, no redundant hardware? this is out of hand somewhat.
i dont know what im gonna do... i might do one last sync with Spanning Sync and then use CalDAV which always works and cuts out the middle man and use address books built in syncing on mac.
what are you guys going to do to make sure this does not happen again?

any projection on how many hours/days we might be out of sync service?

Jeff, the problem was fixed around 3pm central time today.

After 3 days of outage - I just now had a successful sync. Finally!

The natives are restless. Jeff's question deserves an answer, even if it is a simple, "I don't know." Interesting coincidence that my account is coming due in the next 7 days and I just got an email from you in that regard. Moderator - (Byron? Charlie?) This would be a good time to say something. Otherwise your blog may just turn into a list of spanning sync alternatives to consider. After over a day of outage and with a bill looming, that is my next step. I'm hitting up Google with a "Spanning sync alternatives" query.

This is not acceptable. If you make a charge for your service, it is reasonable for your customers to expect that service to be delivered reliably.
Yes, problems do happen. But a reputable company will have things up-and-running within hours at the most.
